I love working on complex communications challenges, particularly where there are different audiences, competing interests and often no obvious answer.
Good ideas change things, whether that’s for a major campaign or part of an ongoing programme. They are the building blocks of good communications.
Too often, the communications industry is divided into silos. Clients’ problems aren’t. I’ve spent my career working across corporate, consumer, B2B, public affairs and other disciplines, often where different audiences and interests overlap.
With more than 30 years in the communications industry, I’ve launched companies and products, advised senior executives, handled major crises and shaped, built and protected brands and reputations.
I like to work with ambitious people and organisations, whether innovators or entrepreneurs, big brands, government or industry bodies, from bold start-ups to the FTSE-100.
My own business experience includes launching, managing and marketing some of the leading agencies of our time.
I built the corporate affairs team at Brands2Life, comms agency. Before that I helped create the Fishburn Hedges Group and as marketing director helped blend the offer across corporate and consumer PR, public affairs, internal communications, digital, social and design.
Earlier still, I set up and ran the Fishburn Hedges Group’s consumer brand agency Seventy Seven PR.
This enables me to see communications problems from the business perspective, understand the pressures and politics around them, and combine that with the hands-on experience of making things happen.
